Lucky’s Beach Houses are located at the Talihau Beach on the island of ‘Utungake. The island is connected to the main Vava’u Lahi Island, which allows guests easy access to the main town of Neiafu. The fales (bungalows) are all in the village of Talihau, so guests don’t have to go far to get a glimpse of, and experience, Tongan culture. Even just by going on a quick walk through the village, you will see how the locals work hard during the day, but can also play hard well into the night.
This is why the owners say, if what you want is silence and seclusion, Lucky’s Beach Houses may not be for you. But if you’re curious about the Tongan way of life, then the relaxed atmosphere of the 4 different types of beachfront fales they offer could well the best tropical home for you in Vava’u.
Amenities and Island Activities
If you can’t live without air-conditioning, then Lucky’s Beach fales are not for you. All 4 houses are cooled by a fan and the sea breeze, but with screened doors, windows, and nets to keep insects and mosquitoes out. The most popular bungalow is the Traditional Fale, which is suited more for travellers who want to experience traditional Tongan housing – no electricity and no private toilet and shower.
Among the many activities you can do during your stay at Lucky’s Beach Houses are surfing, sport fishing, snorkelling and kayaking, windsurfing, kiteboarding, and of course whale watching. Snorkelling, kayaking, and island hopping are free.
